Middlesbrough 1-3 Bristol City: Player ratings.

Dan Bentley – 7
Did not have much to do in the match, not having to make a real save throughout. Dealt with high balls decently but did flap at one or two that presented chances to the home side. Tipped late corner onto the woodwork.

Ryley Towler – 7
The most confident he has looked so far in both defence and attack. Excellent sliding challenge to deny a almost certain goal in the second half. Worked well with Kalas and Nagy. Pace in attack could have been upped if Palmer and Wells worked with him more.

Tomas Kalas – 7
Few dodgy moments in the opening stages of the game, slipping over and giving the ball away, but made up with a goal line clearance to keep the lead. Marshalled the defence with authority, helping Towler through the game.

Adrian Mariappa – 6
The best game he has had since signing for Bristol City. Looked much more confident in the middle of the three winning most of the balls that came to him. Very much needed performance for him.

Zak Vyner – 6
Finally back on the right side of the back three, in the position he is most comfortable. Did not notice him too much tonight as the game played that way.

Jack Hunt – 6
Looked to get forward in the first half and did get caught out a few times. Looked much improved to what we have seen in the recent months, Swapped to the left hand side with 10 to go at 1-3 and allowed a few too many crosses into the box.

Tyreek Bakinson – 6
Looked calm on the ball throughout the game, a touch slow in his decision making in attacking positions, a bit quicker and maybe attacks could have been clearer if the ball moved quicker.

Adam Nagy – 7
His third man runs in the first half were beautiful to see, breaking through the defensive line giving options in the final third. Good cross to assist the first goal, which is something that needs to happen more. Looked lively first hour of the game, less influential final 30.

Kasey Palmer – 7
One of the best we have seen him for a while in a City shirt. Looked interested and fully up for he game. His link up with the front two was quick and promising.

Famara Diedhiou – 8
My first notes of the game was “Fam struggling to control the ball.” To be fair he did. Touch looked poor and should have set up Wells for a goal. BUT, excellent header for the first goal and emphatic finish fir the second. Ran behind the line with the ball as well. 51 goals for City now, looked like the African Alan Shearer.

Nakhi Wells – 8
After just over a year, Wells has arrived! Goal and an assist for him tonight, could have been more. Looked quick and fully committed performance. Praying he link up of the front three can last till the end of the season. Maybe Nigel Pearson is the type of man that gets the best out of him.

Antione Semenyo – 6
Did not see much of him after coming on. Can not recall when he touched the ball.

Steven Sessegnon – 6
Won a few headers at the back post from one of the many crosses. Nothing going forward but more minutes in the legs!

Jamie Paterson – 6
Again, backs against the wall when he came on meaning nothing doing fromward. Cleared a few balls from the box.

Han-Noah Massengo – 5
Came on in the 88th minute. Ran a little bit and probably got his appearance fee.
